About CODEXIDE

CODEXIDE is a free Codex plugin for Eclipse, built and offered to the community by the developers at ILM Informatique.

Why we built it

A genuinely good AI integration for Eclipse

AI coding agents have transformed the way many developers work, but Eclipse has been left behind. To this day there is nothing truly relevant for using them efficiently inside the IDE, most options are barely maintained, awkward to use, or stop at a simple chat box.

We use Eclipse every day, and we wanted the real thing: an agent that understands your files and projects, plans before it acts, and lets you review every change, right where you already code. The goal of this project is simple, to share a good AI integration tool inside Eclipse, and to give the Eclipse community the first-class Codex experience it deserves.

Who is behind it

Made by ILM Informatique

ILM Informatique is a French software company with a long track record of building solid, open-source Java software. They are best known for two well-established projects that thousands of developers and businesses rely on. CODEXIDE is offered by the same team, for free.

jOpenDocument

A pure-Java, LGPL library for reading, writing and generating OpenDocument Format (ODF) files, spreadsheets and text documents, without needing OpenOffice or LibreOffice installed. It is widely used to produce reports, invoices and documents directly from Java applications.

Free for the community. CODEXIDE is provided free of charge. You will still need your own OpenAI Codex account, but the plugin itself is a gift from the ILM Informatique team to Eclipse developers everywhere.
